Single Family & Duplex Homes
Our most popular accommodation, the single-family homes at Penney are as varied as our residents. They include attractive, recently constructed homes as well as vintage homes that have been renovated to today’s standards. Driving down our streets, viewing the various homes, will give you the sense of a small town.

Floor plans range from 1600 to about 2500 square feet at Penney Retirement Community

Each home is distinctive in its design.  Floor plans range from 1600 to about 2500 square feet. Yards and green spaces are generous with lots of historic live oaks and magnolias. Homes offer various floorplans from 2 to 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms including a master bedroom en suite, large open floorplans with the kitchen opening to the living room space.

Our duplexes offer the same unique styles as our single-family homes and vary in size from 1600 to 2500+ square feet as well.

Cottage Homes
The cottages are a favorite with residents because each of the 122 cottages has a unique floorplan and can range in size from 700 up to 1500 square feet. These are the original dwellings built by J.C. Penney in 1926 that have been enlarged and fully modernized to meet Penney's standards, but still retain the charming French-Norman architecture that made them famous.

Cottages, Apartments, Quads and Homes are available at Penney Retirement Community

The cottages are part of a single building cluster of either three or four homes. They each have a full living room, one or two bedrooms, one, one-and-a-half or two baths and a full kitchen. Some have separate dining rooms or a multipurpose room and many include all of these features.

Quad Apartments
Quad apartments are one-, two- or three-room apartments located in our two-story Christian Herald Quadrangle Building (affectionately called the Quad).

The Quad studio efficiency is designed around one large room, with an attractive kitchenette, bath and closet. Because the Quad is centrally located on the campus, the views from the windows are truly beautiful. They overlook either the tree-filled courtyard or the thriving campus life.

The Quad two- and three-room apartments offer a generous 550 to 900 square feet of floor space in their large rooms, providing comfortable living for singles and couples alike. The modern kitchenette has plenty of cabinet space. The bath has a walk-in shower along with good closet space.
