Ann Tillou, a resident of Penney Retirement Community, was honored as the oldest living graduate by Ohio Wesleyan University on June 18. Tillou, 102, is a 1935 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan (OWU) and has been a resident at Penney since 1979.
OWU President Rock F. Jones presented Tillou with a ceremonial teapot and a silver platter, indicating she is the current holder of the Monnett Teapot, which is traditionally given to the university’s oldest living alumna. One of the first women to graduate from OWU with a degree in sociology/anthropology, Tillou spent two years in the Marine Corps during WWII, then served 26 years in the mission field in India with an emphasis on special education.
Friends of Ann Tillou gathered at Penney Retirement Community for a reception recently following a ceremony honoring her as Ohio Wesleyan University’s oldest living graduate. Left to right, seated: Ginny Baldwin, Ann Tillou, and Doris Barry; standing: Ted Townsend, Nargis Bunce, and Mary Beth Hunt.
