Nursing Home Receives Honor for 8th Consecutive Time

Penney Farms, FL, January 16, 2015, — The Pavilion for Health Care at Penney Retirement Community has been awarded the Gold Seal Award for excellence in nursing home care by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). The Pavilion has earned this achievement eight consecutive times since the bi-annual award was first given in 2000.

“We are excited to share this recognition with all of our staff at The Pavilion for Health Care, as well as the entire staff and residents of Penney Retirement Community. From the volunteer hours donated by the residents to the support from all departments at PRC, everyone plays a role in creating an environment of excellence, quality and caring,” said Teresa Scott, President/CEO of Penney Retirement Community.

The recognition is given by the Governor’s Panel on Excellence in Long-Term Care for nursing homes that “demonstrate excellence in long-term care over a sustained period, promotes the stability of the industry and facilitates the physical, social and emotional well-being of nursing home facility residents,” according to the Gold Seal website.

The unique nature of Penney Retirement Community, where neighbors maintain friendships as they transition into the nursing home, is a significant factor in the excellent care provided at The Pavilion, Scott said.  Neighbors visit, volunteer, and engage residents as they continue to live a purposeful life in a caring environment, she added.

PRC staff, residents, physicians, volunteers, and community partners will celebrate the Gold Seal Recognition at a ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at The Pavilion for Health Care. The Pavilion is located on the campus of Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms, FL.
