102-Year-Old Penney Resident Honored by Ohio Wesleyan University

Monnett Teapot awarded to Penney Retirement Community resident

Ann Tillou, a resident of Penney Retirement Community, was honored as the oldest living graduate by Ohio Wesleyan University on June 18. Tillou, 102, is a 1935 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan (OWU) and has been a resident at Penney since 1979.

OWU President Rock F. Jones presented Tillou with a ceremonial teapot and a silver platter, indicating she is the current holder of the Monnett Teapot, which is traditionally given to the university’s oldest living alumna. One of the first women to graduate from OWU with a degree in sociology/anthropology, Tillou spent two years in the Marine Corps during WWII, then served 26 years in the mission field in India with an emphasis on special education.
